Getting started
From install to your first saved Knowledge Base entry in five minutes.
This is the fastest path from "I just downloaded Feaster" to "I have a working reading habit and a KB entry I'm proud of."
1. Install
Pick your platform on the download page. Both builds are signed; on first launch the OS will check the signature and let the app open without warning.
2. Add your first feed
Open Add feed from the sidebar (or press Cmd/Ctrl+L) and paste either a feed URL or a website URL. Feaster discovers the candidate feeds and shows you a preview before subscribing.
If you already have an OPML file from another reader, click Import from OPML file… and your folders become categories.
3. Read deliberately
The list column shows your unread items. Use J / K to move through them and M to mark read or unread. The reader pane uses Newsreader by default — adjust font, size, and theme in Settings → Appearance.
4. Save with intent
When something is worth keeping, press Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+S. Add at least one tag and answer the prompt:
What question does this answer? What made you save it?
That note is the seed of your KB. A year from now, when you search for a half-remembered idea, the note is what you'll find.
5. Retrieve
Switch to Knowledge Base mode (in the title bar) or press Cmd/Ctrl+K to search across articles and notes. Filter by tag in the KB sidebar.
What's next
- Explore feed management to set categories and refresh frequencies.
- Skim keyboard shortcuts — most of Feaster is faster on the keyboard.
- Configure settings to match how you read.
