Feed management

Subscribe, organize, and refresh feeds in Feaster.

Subscribing

Feaster supports RSS 2.0, Atom 1.0, and JSON Feed 1.1. The Add feed modal accepts both feed URLs and website URLs:

  • Paste a feed URL like https://craigmod.com/ridgeline/index.xml and Feaster goes straight to Configure.
  • Paste a website URL like https://craigmod.com and Feaster discovers the available feeds, shows you a preview, and asks you to pick one.

If discovery fails, the manual feed-URL field stays available — just paste the exact feed URL and continue.

Configuring a feed

Each feed has the following settings:

  • Display name — shown in the sidebar.
  • Category — group feeds into folders. Create new categories inline.
  • Color — one of 11 swatches; the colored dot helps you spot a feed in the list at a glance.
  • Update frequency — Realtime, Default, Slow, or Manual.
  • Auto-tags — tags that pre-fill on every KB save from this feed.
  • New article notifications — desktop notification on new articles.

OPML import

If you're coming from NetNewsWire, Reeder, Feedly, or any OPML-supporting reader, export your subscriptions as OPML and import them with Add feed → Import from OPML file…. Folder structure becomes categories.

Refreshing

Feaster refreshes feeds:

  • Manually, per feed or globally (Mod+R).
  • On a configurable interval — 15 min, 30 min, 1 hr, 4 hr, or manual only.
  • On app launch (toggleable).
  • On network reconnect (toggleable).

Deleting a feed

Removing a feed deletes its articles from the list view. KB entries you saved from that feed are kept — your archive doesn't lose memory just because you unsubscribed.
